Caring for ourselves as Earthlings
Advocating for a liveable planet requires resilience. Check out “Create a Perseverance Plan.” You might find it helpful at this time of renewed covid restrictions, and lots of bad planet news.

If you missed the last meeting…
We missed you! Here are the notes from our August 5, 2021 meeting, with handy links.
For people looking for near-term opportunities to make a difference, here are some mentioned at the meeting (see the notes for more details):

  • Help fight Line 3 by signing this online letter; using social media to amplify a big newspaper ad buy; helping our friend Ericka return to MN; or other actions here
  • You also can join one of the many local protests on Friday Aug.13 being organized as part of  “Defund Line 3 – Expose Greenwashing Day of Action”.
  • XR is planning a big awareness-raising action at the Seaport Saturday August 28 at 6pm – likely to also be part of a documentary film. Go to the website for more info and to RSVP.
  • Want to help influence the MA Democratic Party platform re climate goals? See the notes for how to register to testify at a Zoom meeting (Monday night 6:30 pm is the next opportunity, if you are in Katherine Clark’s Congressional district) and how to get talking points to use.

Yes, we CAN do something about climate change, TOGETHER!

We are citizen activists working to confront the climate crisis. We meet as the MetroWest Node of 350 Mass, a statewide climate activist network. Many of us are also members of the MetroWest Chapter of 350 Mass Action, which works to elect progressive climate champions. We welcome participants from the MetroWest suburbs of Boston and beyond. The Node and Chapter currently meet on the first and third Thursdays of each month, when we gather to share, learn, and organize to take action.

Legislative Actions

Time critical actions:

Municipal Sustainability Checklist

We have created a municipal “sustainability checklist” that can help towns compare what they are doing with other towns, as well as get ideas and encourage collaboration. For residents, the checklist helps understand what towns are doing and not doing, as well as set priorities for local advocacy. For organizers, the checklist is an excellent tool to organize local groups around, and to build networks of people who care about sustainability.
