What’s in THEIR backyard?
Thursday, Feb 4, 7-8:30pm via zoom
East Boston, Weymouth, Saugus, Palmer… What do these municipalities have in common and why should we pay attention? Join our next meeting to learn what’s going on and how we can help.

We’ll also try out a different decision-making method for our node, after we hearing about several potential regional projects we might take on:
– climate accountability for local candidates
– climate emergency declarations
– stand-outs to make climate action VISIBLE in our towns.

Transparency in our statehouse… tipping the boat?
ActOnMass, a coalition of activists for engaged democracy, is changing the conversation in the MA legislature, which has an abysmal transparency track record. Our grassroots campaign is working: last week the new Speaker Mariano announced he will delay the of adoption new rules, while a “study” can be made.  Does this mean some have concerns that the proposed new rules might have had enough votes to pass?  Read all about it here and sign up to keep the pressure on here.

If you missed the last meeting…
We missed you! Here are some notes from our January 21, 2021 meeting, with handy links.

Handy guide to our work…
This two-pager provides a good orientation to our node and 350 Mass, the statewide network of which we are a part.

Legislative Actions

Time critical actions:

Municipal Sustainability Checklist

We have created a municipal “sustainability checklist” that can help towns compare what they are doing with other towns, as well as get ideas and encourage collaboration. For residents, the checklist helps understand what towns are doing and not doing, as well as set priorities for local advocacy. For organizers, the checklist is an excellent tool to organize local groups around, and to build networks of people who care about sustainability.
