Chapter and Node Meeting Thurs 9/17 – The Outside Game

Nov 3 Election: Many are worrying.
Let’s do some scurrying!

350Mass Action MetroWest Chapter
We climate activists can play a role in this historic moment, but how to choose where to put our time and money?  At our meeting on Sep 17, insiders will share what they have chosen to do now and why. We hope to inspire everyone to get involved NOW, when it really counts.  (As in votes. And, it’s in 51 days, but who’s counting?)

The Outside Game (literally)
350Mass MetroWest Node

September may be our last chance as climate activists to influence what comes out of the state legislature this year – and WE HAVE A PLAN FOR THAT – an easy direct action that will get some attention, but we need YOU.
Our “Burma Shave” style message signs (google it if you don’t know the reference) are ready!  We need one person to hold each sign, creating a sequence of connected messages as drivers pass by. We hope to have both teams on opposite sides of a busy intersection simultaneously.
WHERE: Somewhere in MetroWest with a good spot to be photographed (for social media, so our message reaches the State House), lots of traffic, and nearby parking – ideas?
WHEN: We’re aiming for a weekday from Sep 21-25, during morning and/or evening rush hours.
VOLUNTEER by completing this sign-in form (even if you can’t attend a meeting) so we can contact you with details for the action.

Legislative Actions

Time critical actions:

Municipal Sustainability Checklist

We have created a municipal “sustainability checklist” that can help towns compare what they are doing with other towns, as well as get ideas and encourage collaboration. For residents, the checklist helps understand what towns are doing and not doing, as well as set priorities for local advocacy. For organizers, the checklist is an excellent tool to organize local groups around, and to build networks of people who care about sustainability.
