MetroWest Node Meeting – Oct 4 MetroWest Node public meeting – UPDATE

Thursday, Oct 4, Peace Lutheran Church, 107 Concord Road, Wayland, 7-9pm

GRASSROOTS PARTICIPATION IN OUR STATE-WIDE NETWORK’S 2-YEAR CAMPAIGN SELECTION PROCESS

The 350Mass Campaign Team (volunteers, some staff) has put together this 4-page Campaign Selection Information for Nodes. It includes a description of the full campaign selection process, along with information from the campaign selection survey (summarized) and various other sources. It also contains links to (much) more detailed versions of the information.

We strongly encourage you read this document and its links before Thursday’s meeting and come informed and ready to discuss its contents! We will not have time for participants to read it when we are together. Our meeting agenda will include dedicated time to:

  • Consider the “questions for reflection” (on page 4) and write down individual thoughts.
  • Discuss reactions with others in small groups, focusing on the questions for reflection.
  • Hear from each group and record these responses, to send to the state-wide campaign selection team.

The 350Mass campaign team will consider all of this feedback and campaign suggestions. The next step will be the Campaign Summit, Saturday November 17 (save the date–location TBD). All are invited!

NEXT MONTH – PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR NOVEMBER MEETING DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED! WE’LL MEET ON NOV 8, AFTER THE ELECTION.
REMEMBER TO VOTE ON NOV 6!
Wondering if your favorite candidates (or your incumbent legislators, for that matter) have signed the NO FOSSIL FUEL MONEY PLEDGE? Before you go to the polls, look for them HERE. Don’t see them? Reach out to them and tell them this is important to you!

First time visitors are especially welcome; come learn and share. 350Mass is a state-wide, grassroots, climate action group dedicated to promoting citizen awareness and political action on climate change. Our Metrowest node public meetings usually happen the first Thursday of the month, with locations changing to accommodate learners, supporters, and activists from towns around the region. All are invited to participate in the breakout groups for the local initiatives as well as in the informal planning group that meets on dates prior to the monthly meeting. There will also be a chance for participants to share news and announcements from their organizations and municipalities. Arrive early to mingle. Light refreshments will be available.

Legislative Actions

Time critical actions:

Municipal Sustainability Checklist

We have created a municipal “sustainability checklist” that can help towns compare what they are doing with other towns, as well as get ideas and encourage collaboration. For residents, the checklist helps understand what towns are doing and not doing, as well as set priorities for local advocacy. For organizers, the checklist is an excellent tool to organize local groups around, and to build networks of people who care about sustainability.
