Attention Ministers, Religious Lay Leaders and Scientists – Please sign today (Mon May 21)!

Three months ago, Cardinal Sean O’Malley hosted an unprecedented gathering of Massachusetts religious leaders and climate scientists to discuss the shared imperative to address the climate crisis and to look for ways to collaborate.

The first initiative to emerge from this exciting meeting is publication of a Faith and Science Joint Appeal for Climate Action. I invite you to read the text and add your name here: http://whrc.org/joint-appeal/

To release the Joint Appeal, the Cardinal has scheduled a press conference for:

2:00 PM Wednesday, May 23 at 2:00 PM —the eve of the third anniversary of Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ inspiring encyclical on caring for creation.
Location: Pastoral Center of the Archdiocese of Boston, 66 Brooks Drive, Braintree. All signatories are warmly invited to attend.

Note: please don’t share this message on social media until after the press con on May 23rd

Municipal Sustainability Checklist

We have created a municipal “sustainability checklist” that can help towns compare what they are doing with other towns, as well as get ideas and encourage collaboration. For residents, the checklist helps understand what towns are doing and not doing, as well as set priorities for local advocacy. For organizers, the checklist is an excellent tool to organize local groups around, and to build networks of people who care about sustainability.
